Whole Family Health Update 02/24/2011
Hi Furriends, Lucky here to give a healthy update on effurybody in the house! Let's start with the most impawtant kitty in the group - you guessed it: me! I am doing GREAT! Meowmy fed me with that syringe thing until Sunday night, then she started feeding me some yummy num-nums and I loved it! I am eating all on my own now! I was afraid I was going to get the runs like brother Bugsy because she changed my food just like that, but nah - didn't get it - I guess I was so plugged up and constipated my belly just averaged thing out inside... Purry cool, huh? The only special treatment I am getting is now I have a set time to eat, since Bugsy and Hope can get really sick if they eat my food. Meowmy says she is training me to be fed on a schedule - sounds scary, I know. Now I eat 4 times a day - in a month she wants me to eat only two. T-W-O. She says I better re-learn to snack on my brothers food or else I will just have to wait for meal time! I am going to rebel! Thing is, meowmy travels and auntie Kelly only comes in twice a day so... Oh, yeah I am also getting something that is called Vaseline every other day so I don't plug up again with the hairballs - yuck it is disgusting! Ok, now onto Gracie, her update is super quick! Gracie is doing great too... Meowmy and the V-E-T are working hard on adjusting her thyroid medicine, and she goes to the doctor to have her blood stolen effury 2-3 weeks to check on her levels and adjust the dose. When she came here, she was WAY over medicated, taking three times as much medicine as she is taking now! She is going back to the V-E-T next Wednesday. She made a full recovery from her tooth problem, but in the last visit her doctor said she will need a dental sometime soon, her teeth are kinda nasty, she probably never had a dental before that poor girl! Bugsy: Bugsy is doing good, but his poop is "iffy". I tried to make meowmy explain what that means, and here is what she said... "Iffy" means that it is not really diarrhea, but it is not really formed. It got formed after DiaGel, but now it is kinda mushy. Sorry for being gross furriends. Meowmy is not taking him to the V-E-T just yet because she wants to make sure what "side of the wall" he is going to fall on. You see, when he was having diarrhea, it was explosive liquid diarrhea, and it is definitely not like that anymore... We don't know if he is dancing the samba on the top of it and smashing part of it or what is going on... We just want to make sure before starting him on Steroids or taking him to a specialist. All the meds he took affected his liver, so he has a liver panel scheduled for March 25th. Also, because of that, his dentist took him off his stomatitis medication, so his gums are getting worst - he will need a dental as soon as he gets the all clear from his V-E-T, and hopefully at that time he will be able to go back to his treatment (I bet he will not be happy about that). Because of all these things, meowmy wants to be really really sure of what is going on before moving onto any kind of drugs again. Anyways, although not 100%, things are WAY better around here, and meowmy doesn't seem so freaked out anymore. At least there is no crisis going on at the moment. Let's hope that from now on all continues to get better - meowmy deserves a break! I am doing my part - I promise to tell my brother and sisters to do the same! Thanks for checking on us furriends! 8 Comments Hi Furriends, Lucky here! See the picture up there? That's how I've been lately: in-your-face! Yep, I have been extra loud, extra obnoxious, extra annoying, extra extra, extra Lucky! Yep, I guess I am doing purry good furriends! Here is the thing... Even though it was kind of bad being force fed with that syringe thing, I liked the extra attention! I really really liked having meowmy all to myself, on my paw-tips for the last three four days... I don't think I want to let it go now - oh no, sir! So now that I am doing better and she is no longer feeding me 'round the clock, what am I supposed to do besides reminding her that I am still her highness? Oh, and let me tell you, I know how to do it! I meow as though I was dying - B-E-S-T technique furriends - learn from the pro: Be dramatic, Very dramatic! Meow like you mean it! I promise your meowmy will come running! Now that Meowmy got traumatized with me not eating, I am using her fears as well- that is part two of the technique: Manipulation, (in this case by fear). For example: She is now feeding me in the bathroom, so I will walk to the bathroom door and meow very melodramatically, as though it was a case of life or death. That is Dramatic manipulation - Bingo! Meowmy will stop effurything to go there! But be aware furriends that you have to give your meowmy some recoup time, otherwise she will catch on and start ignoring you - even though they are hoomans and not as refined as us, they do catch on to it with time, so you need to strategically pull back to keep them always on their toes. I hope my technique helps you some! By the way, have you been in our Auction? My Goodness, you have to check it out! We had a GREAT first day - no wonder - the items are PAWSOME!!! And...... Tomorrow we will announce the big Photo contest winner! Yey!! Good Luck All contestants! Hello Furriends, Lucky Here! I have good Noos! I am eating again! Meowmy fed me twice with that syringe contraption, then she decided to see if I would eat some different Hairball foods on my own. She went to the Pet-mall and bought a whole bunch of different flavors, and guess what???? I liked them all! So, meowmy said she will mix them up and feed them to me in the morning and at night - during the day I will have to snack on Bugsy's and Hope's food, since they have IBS and Allergies and can't eat my food. Meowmy is happy and so am I, as we both don't need to go through force feeding anymore! Yey! I am still very constipated, meowmy says she still doesn't like what she sees in the box at all - she said she almost needed a nut cracker to crack my poop open if she needed to. Uuuuhhhhgggg! Why would meowmy want to crack my poop open anyways? Hoomans are just so weird! I told her to wait until tomorrow and see... I will probably have some major diarrhea with all this new food - try to crack that open meowmy! On another, more hygienic note..... Our Auction has started!!! Me, meowmy, my sisfurs and brother Bugsy would like to thank effurybody at the Cat Blogosphere for this amazing gesture, for all the members who donated such incredible items, for those who worked so hard to make this happen... Thank you so much, from the bottom of our hooman and feline hearts! Furriends, you really need to check out this auction, there are great items for effuryone! Really! To go there, click on the sidebar, on the picture above, or on any link on this post! Thank you, and happy bidding! Hi Furriends, Lucky here! Well, guess what? I was tired of being in the background with Bugsy's and Gracie's health issues, and decided to pull a number on meowmy. A couple of days ago I started turning my face away from the food... The little I ate I threw up too. When I want to do something furriends, I do it right! So meowmy took me to the V-E-T today... The verdict? Severe constipation due to hairballs. Furriends, my V-E-T trip was not fun - it involved injections, things stuck on my both ends to make me eat, to make me poop... I felt embarrassed and violated! Those V-E-Ts sure are mean! Then to top it all I get home for a bath and for what meowmy calls it "force-feeding" uhg! Can a girl just be left alone? Meowmy said she will keep feeding me and giving me this water until I eat and drink on my own... I hope I get hungry soon... The V-E-T gave me some good meds for it. Purr for me furriends - purr for me to unplug so I can start eating! Isn't that ironic - Bugsy poops too much.... I poop too little.... Maybe if we just meet in the middle? Update from meowmy, 11:45pm, Saturday: Lucky seems sad and "under the weather", she is not eating at all on her own, so I am not leaving up to her - I am syringe feeding her 1oz of A/D every couple of hours. I also started her on Appetite stimulants 2x a day - first dose this morning, with her vet approval. So far she hasn't thrown up, which is the good news. Please keep the purrs and prayers coming.... Grooming nom nom noms and hairballs 09/11/2009
All that nom nom nom we do all day long... No, not the food nom nom nom... But the grooming and the loving nom nom nom... Since you are probably a human, let me show you what I am talking about it, so that we are on the same page: As you can see, that is love nom nom nom... We also have the grooming/detangling nom nom nom, which is similar, but we do it on ourselves. We also nom nom nom to regulate our body temperature, since we don't have sweat glands... You get the picture - we do a LOT of nom nom nom... on the top of all that nomming nomming nomming, we nom our humans..... which brings me to......................... We know our nomming is better than any spa exfoliating facial, besides the fact that it is free and readily available, but do you know why? Have you ever observed the perfection of the "feline grooming tool of the trade"? Well let me show you: Isn't that the coolest and the wildest thing you have ever seen in your whole life? NO - don't you go having some weird idea of opening a "by kitteh Spa" - we are way too busy meditating about the problems of the world to be exfoliating the faces of your rich friends instead. The point I wanted to make with those cool pictures is, as you can imagine, a lot of hair/fur get stuck on those hooks, and there is only one way to get rid of it: swallowing it..... So, do you see where I am getting with this? no? ok.... let me illustrate for you with the help of my friends at ICHC: That's right H-A-I-R-B-A-L-L-S!!! Think it's gross? You are lucky it is not you who has these stuck on you throat! So, from a kitty to a human (again, I am assuming you are a human, if not please kindly relay the message for you human, since he/she needs to drive to the pet shop), please groom your kitty often. Short or long hair, we shed; and I tell you - it is not fun to hack that stuff out... And If you ever step in one, I am pretty sure you won't like it either (even though you deserve it; if you groom us more often, that wouldn't happen...). Besides... we love being groomed... Noooooo that's no what we mean -you DON'T need to do it like we do duh! Your tools of the trades are different! You should have a good metal comb, and we here highly recommend the Furminator.... Now, don't you go nuts with it - research your kittie's breed for the best plan of action, and be consistent.... Meowmy Grooms us a few times a week, and uses the furminator once a week... When she sees we are starting to cough, she gives us this thing called butter. Happy grooming! Puuurrrssss and meooowwss..... Bugsy, Hope and Lucky | Our cat blogTranslate this page
