Hi friends, Meowmy here!
Laurie, a friend of mine, is working hard on this project - please do what you can to spread the word around:

New Jersey/Pennsylvania residents: we need your help relocating about 50 stray and feral domestic cats!
The cats are currently being cared for by a community of fisherman and their families, but their proximity to a wildlife preserve requires that we move the cats onto private property. And soon! The preserve is home to several species of birds threatened or endangered in New Jersey, and the breeding/nesting season is almost here!
The Animal Protection League of New Jersey and Save the Animals Foundation, Inc. are coordinating the relocation effort, working closely with other cat rescue and wildlife groups. Both APLNJ and STAF support Trap-Neuter-Return as the most effective means to reduce the feral cat population, and use relocation only in very rare circumstances.
How you can help: If you know anyone who’s able to provide a home (e.g., yard, barn, etc.) for some of these cats, please let them know about this project! All cats are sterilized and vaccinated, and have had a general health check. We would like to move them in groups of two or more.
Transportation and, if necessary, back yard or enclosure fencing will be provided.

Donations can be made here: South Jersey Feral Relocation Project.
Funds will be used for transportation, fencing, TNR, vetting, enclosures, etc. Any extras (if any) will be kept in a fund for future cats/TNR efforts.
While they really need the donations, what is going to help the most is finding a place for those kitties, and the only way to do this is to spread the word....

Hi Furriends, Lucky Here!
Have you met Shell? Shell is very special little kitty who has stolen our hearts, and many of the hearts around the Blogosphere. When she got at her meowmy's house, she was so malnourished that her skin would literally fall off her body with the lightest scratch. Her mouth had huge rodent ulcers due to severe Stomatitis - to a point that she couldn't keep her tongue inside her mouth... She had a bad URI, Herpes virus... She was peeing blood which the V-E-T thought was due to parasites... Fleas, hookworms... But she can't be treated for that either because she was too weak then.

Even faced with all these hurdles, her meowmy saw her will to live - Shell was telling her, showing her she wanted to stay... and since the day her meowmy chose to fight with her, she has let that will shine through everyday, every minute!
Shell's recovery has been remarkable, in a very short period of time. The little kitty that was hiding inside of her cage is no more - Shell is jumping everywhere, including on a 7feet high window sill! She is eating, started gaining weight, and her tongue no longer hangs out of her mouth. Her wounds on her skin are healing. The ulcers in her mouth, even though they haven't improved a lot, have decreased in size. She even started eating dry food!
She is cuddly, sweet, playful and described as having the energizer bunny inside of her - she never stops and demands love and attention (which she has pleeeenty!)
Yesterday she started her stomatitis treatment with the same clinic Bugsy goes to here in Dallas - I am sure if anybody can fix her mouth, they can!
So, today's post if for Shell. We are thankful her meowmy rescued her... Thankful she saw her will to fight a good fight to live, thankful for her to come into our lives making our days brighter and happier, and most of all, thankful that she is getting better everyday. Thankful that she will never again go without food, without love, or a warm bed to sleep on. Thankful that so many of us, from everywhere love this little girl, without even having set eyes on her, and are helping her to get the treatments she will need to win this battle.
When it comes to Shell, we are just thankful for so many things!

See the picture up there? That's how I've been lately: in-your-face!
Yep, I have been extra loud, extra obnoxious, extra annoying, extra extra, extra Lucky! Yep, I guess I am doing purry good furriends!
Here is the thing... Even though it was kind of bad being force fed with that syringe thing, I liked the extra attention! I really really liked having meowmy all to myself, on my paw-tips for the last three four days... I don't think I want to let it go now - oh no, sir! So now that I am doing better and she is no longer feeding me 'round the clock, what am I supposed to do besides reminding her that I am still her highness? Oh, and let me tell you, I know how to do it! I meow as though I was dying - B-E-S-T technique furriends - learn from the pro: Be dramatic, Very dramatic! Meow like you mean it! I promise your meowmy will come running!
Now that Meowmy got traumatized with me not eating, I am using her fears as well- that is part two of the technique: Manipulation, (in this case by fear). For example: She is now feeding me in the bathroom, so I will walk to the bathroom door and meow very melodramatically, as though it was a case of life or death. That is Dramatic manipulation - Bingo! Meowmy will stop effurything to go there!
But be aware furriends that you have to give your meowmy some recoup time, otherwise she will catch on and start ignoring you - even though they are hoomans and not as refined as us, they do catch on to it with time, so you need to strategically pull back to keep them always on their toes.
I hope my technique helps you some!

Hello Furriends, Lucky Here!
I have good Noos! I am eating again! Meowmy fed me twice with that syringe contraption, then she decided to see if I would eat some different Hairball foods on my own. She went to the Pet-mall and bought a whole bunch of different flavors, and guess what???? I liked them all! So, meowmy said she will mix them up and feed them to me in the morning and at night - during the day I will have to snack on Bugsy's and Hope's food, since they have IBS and Allergies and can't eat my food. Meowmy is happy and so am I, as we both don't need to go through force feeding anymore! Yey!
I am still very constipated, meowmy says she still doesn't like what she sees in the box at all - she said she almost needed a nut cracker to crack my poop open if she needed to. Uuuuhhhhgggg! Why would meowmy want to crack my poop open anyways? Hoomans are just so weird!
I told her to wait until tomorrow and see... I will probably have some major diarrhea with all this new food - try to crack that open meowmy!
On another, more hygienic note.....

Hi Furriends, Lucky here!
Thank you for all the purrs and purrayers, I really need them... We had a busy busy day here, lots going on... I am not eating on my own yet so meowmy is feeding me with a syringe until I feel hungry enough to eat without her help. I do eat treats, but unfortunately meowmy doesn't want to feed me only treats, so I guess I need to comply with her "force-feeding" plan. Feels like all we did today was this force feeding thing, but oh well, right? I am no longer throwing up - that is the good noos. Bad noos is that I am still very constipated. Meowmy checked my poop and didn't like what she saw. She said it looked like a witch from a Disney movie, but tiny. Got the picture? Yep, no good. So meowmy gave me some hairball treats as they are a good laxative, to see if I get some of that stuff out. Lets see if I do better next time around!
On another note........................ Today is the last day to enter the Photo Contest!

Pee Ess: I have been so cooperative with force-feeding, meowmy asked me if she could make an "educational video" to help other meowmies and kitties who might have trouble eating out there... I said yes, but really, I think I might start charging royalty from now on! The video is below - am I a good actress or what?

I sure know really well how to demand meowmy's attention! I am a pro furriends! Did you watch the video? I can go on and on and on! And you know what? It works - every single time! Meowmy says I am just Lucky to be cute (hey, another reason to be called Lucky too!), but I know I am actually really exceptionally good at what I do! Hoomans just have a huge ego, you know? It's ok - we let them think they are smarter than us... in the end, we always get our way anyhow!

Hello Furriends, Gracie Here!
Had a pretty stressful day today... Imagine my surprise when the morning started to go by and there was no food for me! Everybody got fed but me! Then it happened - meowmy's lunch break was doing you know what! yep - taking me to the V-E-T! It was a quick in-and-out trip though; they just had to steal my blood for another thyroid test. Thing is, they had to give me that zoom-zoom gas so I would sleep (I am fierce), so I got really sick on the trip back home... I was drooling all over the place, feeling really nauseous, and to top it off, I pooped myself! Thank goodness the V-E-T is close by because being stuck in the carrier in a pool of drool and covered in poop, dizzy from all that gas is no fun at all! I got home and ate some food but it took me a little while to get better... I am all good now - not to worry!
Results should be in soon - I will keep you all posted. Hopefully soon enough we are going to have my medication dose straighten out.
