Product Review - The SunnySeat 02/28/2011
Hi Furriends, Meowmy here! The nice folks from SunnySeat contacted us to review their product, and of course we accepted! The SunnySeat is a window sill/Perch that attaches directly to the windows or glass doors with big suction cups, requiring no tools, thus avoiding any damage to the window framing and painting. It comes in a thin and long box, which the kitties came to inspect immediately! Inside of the box, the product comes already half assembled, making the remaining assembly quite intuitive. The bed already comes mounted, the wires attached and hooked to the respective cups. The only thing you need to do is remove the cardboard and attach the bottom cups. The instructions are one page - here is where IMHO the product lacks. It is more warnings than instructions, per se. And while the product comes pretty much assembled, there are some key points to make this item safe and effective that I would like to see it in the instructions. I will get to that later. As far as directions, the only thing you will find here, is to clean the windows and cups well, to hook the bottom cups first, and washing instructions. The rest is pretty much warnings. So, here is step 1: Attach the bottom cup to the window first. A detailed view of the suction cups - On their website/Infomercial, they say these are "Industrial Size Suction Cups" I can't testify for that, as I never seen and Industrial Suction Cup size before, but these are pretty big. Once you put it on plce they stay on well, and are easy to come off if you pull from the sides. Onto Step 2: Attaching the top Suction Cups: Here is something that in my opinion it is important and is missing in the instructions: You need to make sure that the wires are completely straight. If you look from the front, you should see a perfect 90 degree angle. Remember, to detach a suction cup, you pull it from the sides, and if the wires are not perfectly straight, you are essentially doing that, constantly pulling them sideways until they detach it. They will fall. It can take a little while to get them straight, but it can be done. Now the kitty test! Lucky spent a few hours on it and loved it! I like that the cover is removable and unlike a perch, it doesn't get as hot so she was pretty comfortable in it. Almost like a hammock, good for warmer days. After three or so hours, I checked the cups and there was no air in it whatsoever. I am sure it could gone much longer. I do think one would have to push the cups in a couple of times a day just for good measure, or at least check. Something else I would like to see in the instructions, is how to properly attach the suction cups to make it stick longer - here are a few tricks I know: 1- Clean the window and the cups with alcohol and a paper towel (or newspaper) - not with a cloth, as it leaves fibers behind, removing some of the suction. 2- Moisten the center of the cup a bit - just the center before you apply suction - this will give you a better seal. You can put anything in there, just make sure it doesn't get it to the edges. 3- Of course, when you apply the cup, make sure there is no air left in, at all. Lucky is 12.5 lbs or so, and the infomercial says it holds up to 40lbs. I am not keeping it as I live on the first floor and for me it would mean having to leave the windows wide open all the time to use it - but it is a great concept for someone who is not on the same situation as I am. I am donating this piece for an upcoming auction on the Blogosphere - it is in the package, and was used for the review only! I am sure a kitty will enjoy very much! Below is the infomercial for it- of course it makes it look much easier than it is to place on the window... If you do it like that, I am sure it will be on the floor in not time LOL. Thanks for visiting furriends, watch for this item to be showing up at a CB Auction Soon! The SunnySeat Retails for: 2 for 1 Offer $19.99, + $15.98 S+H ($19.99 each, $7.99 each S+H) *Disclaimer - SunnySeat gave me a free SunnySeat for reviewing purposes. 13 Comments Hello Furriends, Lucky Here! I have good Noos! I am eating again! Meowmy fed me twice with that syringe contraption, then she decided to see if I would eat some different Hairball foods on my own. She went to the Pet-mall and bought a whole bunch of different flavors, and guess what???? I liked them all! So, meowmy said she will mix them up and feed them to me in the morning and at night - during the day I will have to snack on Bugsy's and Hope's food, since they have IBS and Allergies and can't eat my food. Meowmy is happy and so am I, as we both don't need to go through force feeding anymore! Yey! I am still very constipated, meowmy says she still doesn't like what she sees in the box at all - she said she almost needed a nut cracker to crack my poop open if she needed to. Uuuuhhhhgggg! Why would meowmy want to crack my poop open anyways? Hoomans are just so weird! I told her to wait until tomorrow and see... I will probably have some major diarrhea with all this new food - try to crack that open meowmy! On another, more hygienic note..... Our Auction has started!!! Me, meowmy, my sisfurs and brother Bugsy would like to thank effurybody at the Cat Blogosphere for this amazing gesture, for all the members who donated such incredible items, for those who worked so hard to make this happen... Thank you so much, from the bottom of our hooman and feline hearts! Furriends, you really need to check out this auction, there are great items for effuryone! Really! To go there, click on the sidebar, on the picture above, or on any link on this post! Thank you, and happy bidding! Hello Furriends, Hope here! Happy Valentines Day Furriends! Gracie and Bugsy updates 01/31/2011
Hello furriends, Meowmy here! Friday I took Gracie back to the vet as she was still not eating well and it was concerning me there could be something wrong besides the medication (she had been over-medicated for thyroid)... Gracie would be an impossible cat to force-feed, so I wanted to get an appetite stimulant if all else was ok. By Friday she hadn't eaten well since the Saturday before :( The vet ran a CBC and the results came back stellar - everything was perfect, not one number off range; GREAT for a 12-13 yr old little lady! Her vet examined her mouth, which is good, told me to continue to give her temptations hairball treats as a laxative since she was constipated for the last few days, and put her on an appetite stimulant. I also grabbed some cans of Hills A/D. As soon as we got home she gobbled down some A/D - that food is really great for kitties who are off food... I don't know exactly why, but it beats Fancy Feast by much!! I gave her appetite stimulant for a couple of days just to be on the safe side, but then she became TAZ-Gracie I had to take her off of it. For now I am feeding her A/D and Kibbles, and she is eating well. I am also continuing the Temptations Hairball treats. Not this Wednesday, but the following she will have another T-4 test to check her levels and see if we need to lower her medication even more, or if this is ok for now. Nothing really new going on with Bugsy... He is still having diarrhea, and yesterday marked 110 days. He was weaned off of Sulfasalazine and did not take any medication Sunday; today, Monday, he starts a new steroid called Budesonide. We are all praying this will be the one that makes a difference! He is doing great aside from the diarrhea though, and for that we are thankful! He is eating well, playing, running around, and not acting sick at all... That is what keeps me going... That is what helps me keep the faith! I am sorry furriends if all we do is post health updates, but these two kids, especially Bugsy, are going through a long journey towards health; Gracie due to a long time of neglect, and just now having proper care... Bugsy due to a bad digestive tract that was thrown off with Clavamox and for some odd reason he just can't seem to get back on tract. We will get there for both of them though, I have faith we will! Thanks for all the purrs, prayers, and good wishes furriends, have a wonderful, Healthy Monday! Hi Furriends, Bugsy Here! Now it is for Real! The gate is finally down, Gracie is in the house! Today marks the 4th day of Gracie coming down to explore the house and meowmy finally feels secure enough to let her out for good... Days one and two she came out for only about 10 minutes each time, and the reaction was pretty much what you saw on the video. Day three, yesterday, the gate was down for about 3-4 hours. She came out a couple of times, explored the house, hissed a few times and went back to the bathroom on her own. Today the gate was down the whole day. She came out a few times, but this time she hung out in the living room for a while. She did hiss a few times, but also laid down in there with all of us for about 30 minutes just relaxing "watching TV"... She did this twice! All of us kitties were in the room, everybody relaxed, just laying in there... We were not playing or running around, but didn't flee the room either. She did hiss at us a few times whenever one of us approached her, but there were no threats, no claws showing, no movement towards us, no back arching, nothing that would indicate a fight... After a while she just got up, stretched and went back to her bed in the bathroom, where she is now. On the health front, she is doing wonderful! She is gaining weight, meowmy says she can feel much less of her spine bones now! She seems much much happier now and soooo much sweeter! Sometimes meowmy goes in there to give her love and she just meows meows and melts in her hands. It is sad to realize that she might never had this kind of love and care before :( Even though she came infested, covered with fleas, there are no fleas to be found on her now - she must be feeling much much better without those pesters on her too! Anyway, just wanted to update you all! It seems we are on track here... Wish us good luck! The best place to nom nom is... 10/25/2010
Hello Furriends, Bugsy here! This was a scary weekend furriends! We had lots of thunders, rain, and to make matters worst, the lady with the vacuum monster came over again! Definitely the best place to nom nom on some tasty stinky goodness this weekend was under mewomy's bed! Gotta say, meowmy did a pretty god job catering to us during this frightening times... I wonder if we should make that a habit! By the way, I am doing really well! I am starting to love my stinky goodness with that cranberry thing meowmy is mixing in it and happy to say this Saturday marked two weeks since my UTI scare - I am peeing like a champ! Meowmy is watching me really close and even though I miss some dry food, if that's what it takes to make me be healthy, I will keep on eating food from the can... It is not too bad after all... I am still pooping kind of weird, but meowmy is not too worried about it, since I am eating well, drinking, playing, and very very happy - she doesn't want to give me any more meds, thank goodness! She thinks it is from the antibiotics I took for the UTI and the C/D food I tried, combined with my IBD - bad combo! Slowly but surely I am getting all better! As humans like to say, one day at a time... Happy Monday furriends! Hello friends, meowmy here...I am going out of town today again, and this time my heart is really heavy and I am really concerned, as Bugsy is going through a very (VERY) bad reaction to his vaccine he took Saturday, and I HATE living him like this... Unfortunately this new vet did not have Purevax vaccines, and even though I requested two weeks in advance, they had a hard time getting it. So Bugsy got the 3-yr rabies and he is suffering... Last night he started limping, his appetite went way low, started hiding, crying with pain every time I tried to touch him, and his eyes were really red, so I think he is running a fever... He does eat when I bring food for him, and I am feeding him only wet food to keep him hydrated. He is also using the litterbox ok. I did call his vet tech, and will also request to update his file; because of this incident she will try to get the clinic to get purevax vaccines in the future - she also has a cat who reacts badly to it... My vet tech is also my pet sitter, so when I called her she graciously offered to come by tomorrow morning to pick him up to take him in to get checked out and medicated if he needs it; she will bring him back with her when she comes by to feed the other kitties at night - Thank GOD I have her so I don't go crazy thinking of how is he going to be without me... Lucky took the same shots and she is completely fine. For what I hear he should be fine soon... God I sure hope so! my poor baby boy :( By the way, the kitty cam is working non-stop now, especially when I travel so I can keep an eye on them and also not miss them too much. Remember: Big fat white cat (usually on red window sill on the right) = Bugsy Regular size/small white cat, usually on left window sill or up in the shelves or with Lucky = Hope Color point but looks brown on video = Lucky Our Olympic Appearance! 02/22/2010
Hello folks! I am not sure if you all watched the Ice skating dance last night... If you didn't, no worries, meowmy recorded our appearance to post here for you guys. It was a performance of a lifetime! It was not enough for a medal, but we are proud regardless! Oh, the emotion to be in the Olympics, wow, wow, WOW! We will double our efforts now to practice much more for the next Olympics... We are also training for the Summer Olympics, and for the World cup, of course! Busy busy busy! So, what do you guys think about our appearance? Personalize funny videos and birthday eCards at JibJab! After our presentation we all went sledding down the mountains with meowmy... It was soooo much fun! It's kind of hard to stay on the Sled thingy though - see the guy on the back who flew away? Poor guy! We all made it down - You know, kitties have way more balance than humans, and if we fall, we sure are way more gracious at it too! Personalize funny videos and birthday eCards at JibJab! Is it Springtime yet? 02/08/2010
- Meowmy, Is it Springtime yet? I miss the sun... Laying out on the grass... - No Bugsy, but hang in there honey, the sun will be here soon enough, after all we live in Texas, the Sunshine State! - Well, good point meowmy! Happy Monday Everybody!!! Pee-sss: Sissy Hope is feeling better... Not all better, but much better... I think she will be 100% tomorrow or so! She is now only eating stinky goodness - NB LID for the time being, just until her tummy gets settled, and getting Bene-Bac everyday... Once she gets all better, meowmy will give her stinky goodness of different flavors... She trained meowmy well that one... No more chips on her diet - she will be back on S. goodness 100%. Have you ever been hit by lightning? 11/23/2009
On BED? Oh yes, that was the impression meowmy had this morning when I jumped on her bed so fast, lighting fast, went over her, and down the other side. You see, I was chilling on my favorite shelf on the living room and something got me startled; jumped on meowmy’s bed who got so scared – she jumped! So, she scared me even more! (humans, go figure, they just don’t know how to behave properly in a critical moment like this!), so quickly I took refuge under the bed! Whew luckily no kitty was under bed! Whew! Meowmy took a good few minutes to figure out what happened, and we still don’t know what startled me! She said her heart was about to come out through her mouth - whatever that means... Even like that she came to check on me under the bed, and I was pretty shaken up too... I did not want to cuddle or come up with her, which is pretty weird - I am not one to hide. I think there was a monster in the living room. Does anybody know of a good monster exterminator in Texas? ~Lucky | Our cat blogTranslate this page
