Whole Family Health Update 02/24/2011
Hi Furriends, Lucky here to give a healthy update on effurybody in the house! Let's start with the most impawtant kitty in the group - you guessed it: me! I am doing GREAT! Meowmy fed me with that syringe thing until Sunday night, then she started feeding me some yummy num-nums and I loved it! I am eating all on my own now! I was afraid I was going to get the runs like brother Bugsy because she changed my food just like that, but nah - didn't get it - I guess I was so plugged up and constipated my belly just averaged thing out inside... Purry cool, huh? The only special treatment I am getting is now I have a set time to eat, since Bugsy and Hope can get really sick if they eat my food. Meowmy says she is training me to be fed on a schedule - sounds scary, I know. Now I eat 4 times a day - in a month she wants me to eat only two. T-W-O. She says I better re-learn to snack on my brothers food or else I will just have to wait for meal time! I am going to rebel! Thing is, meowmy travels and auntie Kelly only comes in twice a day so... Oh, yeah I am also getting something that is called Vaseline every other day so I don't plug up again with the hairballs - yuck it is disgusting! Ok, now onto Gracie, her update is super quick! Gracie is doing great too... Meowmy and the V-E-T are working hard on adjusting her thyroid medicine, and she goes to the doctor to have her blood stolen effury 2-3 weeks to check on her levels and adjust the dose. When she came here, she was WAY over medicated, taking three times as much medicine as she is taking now! She is going back to the V-E-T next Wednesday. She made a full recovery from her tooth problem, but in the last visit her doctor said she will need a dental sometime soon, her teeth are kinda nasty, she probably never had a dental before that poor girl! Bugsy: Bugsy is doing good, but his poop is "iffy". I tried to make meowmy explain what that means, and here is what she said... "Iffy" means that it is not really diarrhea, but it is not really formed. It got formed after DiaGel, but now it is kinda mushy. Sorry for being gross furriends. Meowmy is not taking him to the V-E-T just yet because she wants to make sure what "side of the wall" he is going to fall on. You see, when he was having diarrhea, it was explosive liquid diarrhea, and it is definitely not like that anymore... We don't know if he is dancing the samba on the top of it and smashing part of it or what is going on... We just want to make sure before starting him on Steroids or taking him to a specialist. All the meds he took affected his liver, so he has a liver panel scheduled for March 25th. Also, because of that, his dentist took him off his stomatitis medication, so his gums are getting worst - he will need a dental as soon as he gets the all clear from his V-E-T, and hopefully at that time he will be able to go back to his treatment (I bet he will not be happy about that). Because of all these things, meowmy wants to be really really sure of what is going on before moving onto any kind of drugs again. Anyways, although not 100%, things are WAY better around here, and meowmy doesn't seem so freaked out anymore. At least there is no crisis going on at the moment. Let's hope that from now on all continues to get better - meowmy deserves a break! I am doing my part - I promise to tell my brother and sisters to do the same! Thanks for checking on us furriends! 8 Comments Chatty Lucky knows how to demand attention! 02/17/2011
Hi Furriends, Lucky Here! I sure know really well how to demand meowmy's attention! I am a pro furriends! Did you watch the video? I can go on and on and on! And you know what? It works - every single time! Meowmy says I am just Lucky to be cute (hey, another reason to be called Lucky too!), but I know I am actually really exceptionally good at what I do! Hoomans just have a huge ego, you know? It's ok - we let them think they are smarter than us... in the end, we always get our way anyhow! By the way... Did you hear what I said in the video? I said.... "Did you choose your picture for the contest yet? Hurry hurry! Contest Rules: Love is in the air... Send us a photo of what you love the most: It can be of your favorite hooman, your favorite fur-sibling, an activity you love, your favorite thing to eat, your favorite place to sleep, your favorite toy, etc.
Thankful Thursday - for Gracie! 02/03/2011
Hi Furriends, Bugsy here! Today is Thankful Thursday, so I wanted to make a special post about my bootiful Coogar - Miss Gracie! I am SO thankful she is here with us! Furriends, I don't know what it is about her... I but I think I am in love... truly, madly, deeply in love with her! I know she is much older than me... But hey, if Ashton and Demi are still going strong after all this time.... why not Bugsy and Gracie? Unfortunately she refuses my advances and hisses and hisses whenever I get close... But you know what they say about opposites attracting... I don't know furriends, but I think all this anger might have a touch of love behind it! What do you think? Should I keep going, or just give up on loving my special cougar? Look how beautiful she has become! Hello Furriends, Hope here! It's been a long time furriends! With all the health problems with Bugsy and Gracie, sometimes I feel sister Lucky and I are a bit in the background around here... So, today I decided to take over the compooter to give their health updates and also leave you with a picture of me, so you don't forget who I am! Here are the updates, let's start with Gracie: Meowmy got the results for the T-4 tests we ran Saturday... She always thought she was way over-medicated - Her old vet, who we left and never looked back, put her on 3 (THREE!!!!!) Methimazole pills a day; at the time she was just 7lbs! Because she was steadily gaining weight, which she needed, and doing well, and also because meowmy was pretty kinda broke with all Bugsy's issues and her surgery, she waited until this past weekend to have the test done - of course she had discussed with the new vet waiting and as long as she was eating and doing well, the V-E-T thought it would be ok to wait. This week however, her appetite started slowing down, which is completely out of the ordinary for her. She went from being a great eater to being finicky even with Fancy feast. When looking at the side effects of Methimazole, one of the first ones is Lack of Appetite - Bingo. Her mouth has been checked, so it is not it. She doesn't have diarrhea... She is not stressed, or lethargic... Her thyroid numbers, below, can shed a light: T-4 NG/DL Range 0.7 - 2.6 Gracie: 0.3 Free T-4 TMOL/L Range 9.0 - 33.5 Gracie: 3.9 T-4 Overall Range 0.8 - 4.7 Gracie: 0.8 Below, on the back, there was a note that said something along the lines of "Numbers below the range in cats almost always represent over-medication". The V-E-T called meowmy and told her to immediately lower her medication to 2 pills a day, one in the morning and one at night, and that her appetite should increase in a few days time. Since she is not eating well, we should take her to the V-E-T for an appetite stimulant on Friday too... She will also have her blood stolen for another test in two weeks to see if her medication needs more adjusting. Now onto Bugsy: Bugsy felt nauseated last night furriends, I thought he was going to throw up all over the bed! Luckily he didn't, Yuck! The V-E-T called for a follow up and told us with this news and the results of the blood test, it is time to wean him off of the Sulfasalazine. So, from Wednesday through Saturday he will take 1/2 dosage, Sunday he has a day off, and Monday if he still has the runs he starts the new Steroid Treatment. Then in a couple or few weeks he goes back to the V-E-T for more testing. Whew! Thank Goodness at least Sister Lucky and I are healthy furriends, I tell ya, if just dictating the updates makes me tired, imagine taking care of those two high maintenance babies! (Meowmy says shosh Hope they are your brother and sister!) Have a wonderful Thursday Furriends! Bugsy, Feeling better... 10/15/2010
Hi Furriends! I am finally feeling better to start typing on the bloggie again! I got pretty sick for a while there furriends... But I don't know who was worst, me or meowmy, she was pretty freaked out... Poor meowmy was crying all night with me at the ER V-E-T, almost as much as I was... Anyways, I think I have never eaten so much stinky goodness in my LIFE! Meowmy doesn't want me eating dry food anymore, so she is feeding me many meals a day of stinky goodness. She bought some new food for me, called C/D, but I didn't like it too much, so she said she will start adding cranberry relief to my food instead - I don't know, but that doesn't sound too tasty to me... We will see... If she mixes a little bit of the C/D on the Z/D (my regular food) I will eat it, but just a little... Otherwise I don't like it too much :) Besides that, I am doing better... I don't feel like going to the box all the time anymore, which is good, that was quite uncomfortable! The only thing is that now I have a sore bottom from all the diarrhea (sorry furriends) from the nasty antibiotics... Yep, I can barely sit LOL! But soon it will end and meowmy already has Bene-bac ready for me here... she knows it doesn't work well while I am on antibiotics, but she started to give me anyways... I guess it won't hurt... I can't wait to stop taking all these meds - taking medicine once a day for me teeth was enough already... Now I need to take that plus two pills a day *sigh*... Saturday Morning is my last pill, and I am back to my routine! Thank you so much for all the purrs, prayers and comments furriends - it really helps knowing that you care out there! Hugs, Bugsy Thankful Thursday for Warm and Cozy Blankie! 09/30/2010

Come on meowmy... Hurry up and get off this shower already! We are hungry............. Can't you tell? Furriends, do your meowmies take as long as our meowmy in the shower? Maybe is that long mane she calls hair! Humph! Help! The Vacuum monster is on the lose! 05/27/2010
Hello friends Bugsy here! Interesting things have been going on since meowmy got a J-O-B... Well... For one thing, this lady mom calls an Angel but quite frankly, I don't know how she can be an angel coming to our house and moving everything around, and gasp, using this LOUD vacuum monster for so long e-v-e-r-y-w-h-e-r-e. I am so sorry meowmy, that is no angel in our book! Gee, we were freaking out all day long! There was not enough Feliway that could take care of the matter, that woman was an in-house hurricane! And to think that meowmy spent her hard earned FIRST salary with her... and was haaaaaappppppyyyy about it? Sheesh... Humans! Go figure! The only good thing that came out of it is that apparently the “angel” tossed my Cat grooming bag on the trash by mistake, so hehe no medicine for me tonight! Ha! The joke is on who, who? Meowmy was looking for this thing everywhere….. Didn’t find it! I swear I didn’t hide it! I know tomorrow I will take my med wrapped in a towel, and I HATE that but at least tonight I am home free. Meowmy already ordered another one… well, nothing is perfect! So I heard “Angel” Aida is coming over again this weekend to organize the house… Thank goodness I have a great hiding spot… which so happens to be right next to the Feliway outlet – I guess I will be ½ fine! Humans… All they should care for is a clean litter box! (ours, of course hehe) Hi, Hope here... I have been sick again... Remember this? It is back... At least that is what meowmy and my vet, Santa Claus, think it is... All I know is that I have been hiding under meowmy' bed since last Thursday, and today was my first day out - meowmy was so happy I came out, she took this picture to post here in the bloggie... But I am already hiding again... I didn't fee like eating at all, and the runs came back... I don't feel like playing, and when I play a little, I have no energy. Santa Claus (my vet) thinks I have IBD, and put me on a special diet now - I can only eat one thing forever, he says... meowmy says it is bamby... That's quite mean :-/ I am also taking that bitter, bitter, nasty, nasty medicine again, and hopefully I will get better soon... I heard meowmy leave a message to another vet, something about a second opinion/diagnostics if I don't get better... My vet, Santa, wanted to sent me to the Hospital for something that sounded complicated- a biopsy and a ultrasound, but that he was pretty sure by my history that what I have is IBD, and most likely a sensitivity to fish (meowmy was giving me Freeze dried Salmon treats when I got sick). So they decided to treat me first, and if I don't get better, go for more diagnostics. Please please I want get better... I don't want to go to another vet again! They do mean things and stick things in places they really shouldn't... please please I want to get better... Please folks, purr for me... I don't feel so good... :( Thankful Thursday 03/25/2010
Hi, Bugsy Here! I am super thankful that all I got was knock out drunk for a little while and shaved on a few spots... Ok, it was not fun, but It could be way worst! But what I am really really thankful is that my sissy Lucky is back home, and she is ok... I am watching her closely, as you can see on the picture... She is having a little hard time, and today meowmy had a conversation with our doctor about her... Since Hope had to take her shots anyways, meowmy took the opportunity... There was a concern raised by my other vet, during the dental procedure yesterday, about her being very congested and coughing... and a very ugly word called FIV was brought up (since she had had cough issues in the past, and was congested at the procedure)... In the end it was all clear, and sissy Lucky will be ok - here is what happened: This morning she had a coughing fit after meowmy gave her the medicine, and she did sound very very congested, as though she had a lot of fluids... The thing is though, she is not coughing on normal circumstances, or sneezing, or showing any symptoms of congestion whatsoever... Our doctor (Santa Claus) looked at her records and chest x-rays from her last visit, from the time she was there for a cough, and there was no signs of fluids or anything of concern. He said that the congestion was probably due to excess of salivation due to stress. He said the cough I heard today was in line with her aspirating some of the medication, plus having the tube down the throat during general anesthesia can do that to some cats... Basically... not to worry, unless she starts showing symptoms... Whew! So, yes, Bugsy here, super duper ultra thankful this Thursday! | Our cat blogTranslate this page
