Rainy Sunday... Celebrating The Hosting of The 2016 Olympics in Brasil with Meowmy! 10/04/2009

As most of you know by now, meowmy is from Brasil, and since Friday she has been glued to the Brasilian TV watching the news about the the 2016 Olympic Games.
OMG you guys - Brasil is going to be THE FIRST COUNTRY IN SOUTH AMERICA to host an Olympic Games in history! This is huge for meowmy's country! They were competing against Chicago, Madrid, and Tokio! They won with 66 votes - the largest number of votes in HISTORY, matched only by Athens! Can you believe it? OMG OMG!!! You should see it - the President of Brasil cried like a little baby! He said it wwas the proudest day of his life, and the the final thread of prejudice agaist our country had just been lifted... and he was just SO proud of his Beautiful and amazing country! And so was meowmy! We kitties had no clue of what was going on! Humans are just plain weird! Anyways, meowmy got some pictures to show you guys - take a look!

That is (soccer) Pele on the left, and the President of Brasil on the right, moments after they heard the verdict - both of them were very emotional in there...

That's the people celebration on the streets... Meowmy wishes she was there... We kitties can see why - Brasilians certainly know how to throw a party!

What awesome news about Brazil getting to host the Olympic games! The other countries have already had the chance to host so that was a good decision.

Pee Ess, it was not Grete's gotcha day...it was the anniversary of her first elbow surgery plus it was Ginger and Bennette's gotcha day AND mom's birthday. Whew! Thanks for coming by to celebrate with us.

We didn't know that a country in the southern hemisphere has never hosted the Olympics. Congratulations to Brazil for being the first!! We know Rio will do a good job hosting!

Yeah, we were really happy for Brazil too. We like Brazilians. Not just the great soccer players that have played in our town, but also other Brazilians we have met here. Obrigado IOC!
