Hello friends, meowmy here...I am going out of town today again, and this time my heart is really heavy and I am really concerned, as Bugsy is going through a very (VERY) bad reaction to his vaccine he took Saturday, and I HATE living him like this... Unfortunately this new vet did not have Purevax vaccines, and even though I requested two weeks in advance, they had a hard time getting it. So Bugsy got the 3-yr rabies and he is suffering... Last night he started limping, his appetite went way low, started hiding, crying with pain every time I tried to touch him, and his eyes were really red, so I think he is running a fever... He does eat when I bring food for him, and I am feeding him only wet food to keep him hydrated. He is also using the litterbox ok. I did call his vet tech, and will also request to update his file; because of this incident she will try to get the clinic to get purevax vaccines in the future - she also has a cat who reacts badly to it... My vet tech is also my pet sitter, so when I called her she graciously offered to come by tomorrow morning to pick him up to take him in to get checked out and medicated if he needs it; she will bring him back with her when she comes by to feed the other kitties at night - Thank GOD I have her so I don't go crazy thinking of how is he going to be without me... Lucky took the same shots and she is completely fine. For what I hear he should be fine soon... God I sure hope so! my poor baby boy :( By the way, the kitty cam is working non-stop now, especially when I travel so I can keep an eye on them and also not miss them too much. Remember: Big fat white cat (usually on red window sill on the right) = Bugsy Regular size/small white cat, usually on left window sill or up in the shelves or with Lucky = Hope Color point but looks brown on video = Lucky CommentsMon, 14 Jun 2010 4:19:38 am We hope Bugsy is feeling better soon. Mon, 14 Jun 2010 4:22:34 am Oh noes! We are so sorry to hear Bugsy had a reaction to the vaccination! We are sending him lots and lots of healing purrs and purray he makes a full recovery very soon! Also sending you lots of comforting vibes because we know how worried you are! Mon, 14 Jun 2010 5:29:00 am How worrying for you that Bugsy had this reaction to his vaccine - especially with you have to go out of town. Mon, 14 Jun 2010 6:58:32 am Oh No! Poor thing, we will be purring and praying that he feels better from that shot. Kitty cam, what a great idea! Keeps us posted on how he is doing. Have a safe trip. Fuzzy Tales Mon, 14 Jun 2010 8:32:50 am We hope Bugsy feels better soon. We're indoor kitties, so we don't get rabies (the odds of a vaccine-related sarcoma are higher than the odds of ever contracting rabies). So fingers crossed all will be well, lots of purrs to Bugsy and to you! Mon, 14 Jun 2010 10:06:34 am Oh that stinks that Bugsy had a bad reaction and is not doing well. We are sending him lots of purrs and prayers to feel better. We hope that it wears off soon. We haven't heard of purevax - but now we want to find out more because it sounds like they are better. We are glad your pet sitter is also your vet tech - that is good for Bugsy! We are praying and purring for it to be ok soon!! Mon, 14 Jun 2010 11:16:01 am Binga gets bad reactions to vaccines too, so we also have to be careful. It's a good thing your pet sitter and vet tech are one in the same, both for your peace of mind and to make sure Bugsy is all right! Sending warm purrs to help him feel better. Mon, 14 Jun 2010 2:32:47 pm We are sorry that he reacted badly to the shot. Mac hid most of the day after his but did not seem to be hurting from it! Fri, 18 Jun 2010 8:09:04 pm We hope Bugsy is okay now. It's no fun to have a reaction to a shot. Fri, 25 Jun 2010 11:28:03 am Oh nooo! We actually lost two kittens to a very very bad vaccine reaction (FVRCP). It was horrifying! I am so glad Bugsy is doing okay! Your comment will be posted after it is approved. Leave a Reply |
