Meet Bugsy!

Bugsy came from the same rescue group as Lucky. He was surrended by his breeder, along with his three brothers and sisters. Like Lucky, he is also a Ragdoll, but he is all white! He joined the family on January 17th, 09, at 21 months of age. He is as sweet as he is big! He is also a very curious cat, and likes to explore and jump on everything, which will force me to completely kitty-proof my house! I adopted him to be Lucky's brother, so she wouldn't feel lonely when I travel. He is my baby boy, the prince of the house!
Bugsy is massive, and looks bigger than his 17lbs will show. He walks like a little elephant, and has the habit of jumping on bed (right on my face) in the middle of the night. He is very loving, and will do anything for a good cuddle. He loves playing chase with Lucky, and has a funny restless tail, which has quickly become Lucky's favorite toy!

Favorite Food & Treats:

Dry food - currently on a mix of Orijen 6-Fish and Acana Grasslands.

Favorite Toys:

Anything with catnip, and Lucky's tail.

Bugsy's Dental Issues

Even though Bugsy is only 2 years old he suffers from gingivitis. More specifically he has a condition called Immune Mediated Gingivitis. Simply speaking, Bugsy is "allergic" to his own teeth.
I have been keeping him healthy with a series vitamins, as well as Transfer Factor, but he will likely need dental surgery, as this condition has no cure. The most common surgical solution for this condition is full mouth extraction, where all the teeth behind the canines are removed. This is a painful and expensive procedure, but usually has great results, with kitties being fine even to eat dry food.
Right now he is on a series of daily supplements to keep his general health and immune system in check. This "treatment" costs quite a few dollars/month, and hopefully will buy both of us some time before traditional medical treatment and/or surgery becomes inevitable. So far it has been helping a lot! From time to time he has had to take antibiotics and anti-inflammatory shots to keep the inflammation down and he is closely supervised by a great vet.
The donations are going to allow me to take him to the specialist (I have taken him to the vet for this issue plenty of times, but there is so much he can do about it- he referred us to the specialist) for the appropriate treatment and surgery if necessary. I wish I could have this done sooner, but being unemployed takes away any chance of that happening... unless I receive enough donations to fund this treatment we will have to wait...
Oh, that would be a dream!!
That's why I added a donations button below - all the donated money will be placed in a savings account and will be used ONLY for Bugsy's dental treatment. You can donate any amount, no donation is too little...
Thank you so much!!
**Update**
Bugsy had his surgery performed today, 01/18/2010, and hopefully is headed into a life of no pain for no on! He will be taking daily medication for life, which with a bit of luck and a lot of love, should keep him in remission forever.
I am so very grateful for the donations that came from the most unexpected places... Thank you so much for everything - for the financial help, but most importantly, for caring!
Please keep coming back to check on him!
